About Enid

A few years after her son came out; Enid went back to school to become a psychotherapist. She now specializes in gay and lesbian issues. Knowing personally as well as professionally how painful the coming out process can be for both parents and children, she is dedicated to helping people examine their stereotypical misconceptions about homosexuality by bringing gay and lesbian issues out of the closet and into the mainstream. In The Rest of the Way, Enid draws on her life experiences to illustrate where the roots of prejudice and shame begin.

A longtime member of PFLAG (Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), Enid has served on both the Orlando Board of directors of GLBCC (Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Community Center), and on the Orlando Board of PFLAG for over ten years. For three years, she and her husband Syd wrote a column in Watermark, Central Florida’s bi-monthly gay newspaper called, “A Parent’s Perspective,” to add their voices to the cause of gay acceptance.  Enid and Syd live in Central Florida.
